Learning to Read Need not be Expensive

My boys are getting the hang of reading. I have been using phonics materials in teaching them to read. Some of it I found in the local bookstores, but mostly, I dug over the internet. I am so thankful to those homeschooling moms who unselfishly sharing their materials for free, it helps homeschooling families who don’t have much budget for extra books or materials.

One of my favorite site is the Measured Mom by teacher-mommy Anna. I have been using her free printable phonics books to my children. It’s great for beginners, our youngest Zian who is 3 years old, is learning how to read through this material. He can now read cvc words and few ccvc words. One important note, for your child before jump-starting reading, is to master the letter sound, for that’s what they’ll hear most of the time.
